Superheroes Wanted

'Superheroes Wanted' Primary School competition

18 October 2024

To celebrate ‘Orgtober’: the new name for October and our Organ Donation Education Month, we are delighted to invite you and your pupils to enter our competition.

Working with our partners The Mighty Orgamites, our competition is to design a ‘Superheroes Wanted’ logo.  The purpose is for pupils to have some creative fun while learning why our Mighty Organs (the ones we can donate) are also Superheroes.

Details:

  • Open to primary schools in Northern Ireland
  • Competition prize:
    • Winner: school equipment vouchers to the value of £500
    • Logo design created into t-shirts
    • x2 runner-up prizes: school equipment vouchers of £100 each
    • Photo and local PR opportunities
  • Competition closing date: Monday 18 November @5pm

The pdf document below provides you with instructions and templates to use for the competition.  Simply:

  1. Pick a shape
  2. Add the headline ‘Superheroes Wanted’
  3. Add an Orgamite character
  4. Add as much colour and design as possible and hey-presto, it’s done

To get creative juices flowing, pupils may enjoy watching some animations to explain a bit more about each of the organs and what they do: watch here.

Entries should be submitted by post or scanned and emailed (whichever is easiest for teachers) to:

Catherine McKeown, Organ Donation Promotion Manager
Public Health Agency
12-22 Linenhall Street
Belfast, BT2 8BS

[email protected]

Also included below are colouring-in sheets for each of the Mighty Orgamites, for pupils to use in the classroom or at home.

School education resources

We also want to remind all teachers that our educational school resources for KS1 and KS2 are available online: download here.

These resources have been created by The Orgamites along with a working group of teachers, and they include lesson plans, classroom presentation, and a range of other supporting resources.

These resources are a fun and educational way to meet our Mighty Organs, find our why they are superheroes, and how to keep them healthy.

Thank you for getting involved and we can’t wait to see all the entries – good luck!
