David's story

For bookshop owner David Torrans, his sight is vital to him. David tells his story of how his 4 cornea transplants, the first in 1984, have not only transformed his vision but his life.

The cornea is the clear outer layer of tissue at the front of the eye which lets light into your eyes, without them you wouldn’t be able to see. The gift of sight is precious. Every day 100 people in the UK start to lose their sight. Almost 2 million people in the UK are living with significant sight loss. If you choose to donate your corneas after you die, you could give someone back the gift of sight.
